As we look back over our lives, we can really see that we all have been a leader in some capacity of sort. Even now you could be in a leader position over a ministry or organization. If we really look back even in elementary if you really look at it, we always been a leader even when we were pick to be team captain of some kind of sport or event. Have you ever took the time to really think about why people would come to you and say that “You are destine for greatest” or you let it go out one ear or another. Also when people came up to you and said “You have potential to do more” did you ever take to time to ask yourself “what can I really do to have such great potential?”
Tonight message have some significance reference of why you are destine for more. My message for tonight is “A Chosen Generation” You all are chosen by God in some form of fashion. Tonight is very divine because God really want to get you to see the truth essence of why he Chosen you to be his remnant. See we already think in our minds that were chosen to just be saved or we think we know Christ. Tonight we are going to deal with the truth. I don’t know about you, I don’t want to just be chosen and act like other so call Christians who call themselves God elect.
Have you ever notice why a lot of Christian say that there are chosen generation but still at like the world. Well maybe it just me being too deep or spiritual, before we get to the meat of the message. Let’s look up the term chosen so that we can get the importance of being a chosen generation.
So as we look up the word chosen we can see that it is more to it than just been chosen. Now to be “A Chosen Generation” there is four component or elements a person must know or possess. They’re the purpose of why you are chosen. What is your promise of being chosen? Understanding, the problem, which we face of being a chosen generation, Last but not least knowing that you are predestined to be chosen. These are very important to understand why you are a chosen generation in this season of your life.
As we take this journey of understanding why God chose us, we have to look at what is the purpose of being a chosen generation. See everyone can be chosen but the real question is do you have the capability of understand your purpose. This particular text was written by Apostle Peter. He was writing this letter to the churches of the Asia Minor territory. He had a since of remembering the day and the hour when God said “Come and Follow him”. Sometimes in life we have to “Follow” even though you are a chosen or selected by God.
The person we need to follow is Christ Jesus. Jesus is our number one source of all knowledge and wisdom. Jesus is your true divine shepherd. As we understand our purpose we can see that following Jesus is a key to our purpose. We have to learn how to follow Christ Jesus and not man. We as leader need to learn how to direct and lead the people of God back to him and not us. The bible says that we should know God voice and a stranger we shall not follow. How can we follow God if we don’t know his voice? For in order to be chosen you have to understand God voice in your life. How can God direct you and lead if you don’t know his voice.
When you look at Apostle Peter life, before he was commission an Apostle. He was a married man, had his own business and also he had kids. Then here come Jesus own the scene and say “Come and Follow me” Mt 4:19a. It seems strange to me that a man I don’t know come and say follow me. I would have came quiet weary of the fact that I don’t know this guy. Especially we as a people would be question him all up in our mind, but Peter wasn’t shock or hesitance about going.
Peter left everything that he had to go and follow Christ. That what we as a generation have to do, leave everything and go and follow Christ. You have to leave your friend, family and your spouse in order to follow God. This is the season where you have to make a choice whether you stay with friend and family or leave and follow God. These walks with God make seem lonely but it is a risk that we have to take. If God has Call you in this season to be a chosen generation we have to lay down our life to follow Christ. It is coming a time where we have to make a stand and let the world know who we stand for in this season.
Back to Peter, Peter realize that Jesus was a leader or an example to follow. You are a generation chosen to follow the ways and the image of God. The word of God says “Be ye Holy for I am Holy”. God will not rise up another generation being ignorant in following man, and praising man. We have to be a generation that will give God all the Glory and honor, and let people know that we are just vessel before God ready to be use by him. We can’t do anything without him being with us.
I don’t know about you I want to give God all the praise and glory for whatever I do for him. Not only do we need to understand on how to follow God in order to know our purpose. We also have to know how to serve. Serving is another key component of knowing your purpose. We all are servant of God. Servant means knowing how to serve. Serving people doesn’t mean that we are slave. We are servant of the most high God.
Even though we are a servant that doesn’t mean that we start demanding God people to serve us. Just because we have titles or hold a position within an organization don’t give the right to manipulate the people to serve you. We are a generation in this season to serve the people. I think we miss the fact or the essence of why Jesus came to earth. When Peter begins to follow Christ he saw how we suppose to serve the people.
We as a body of Christ have to get off our high horse and begin to serve, if it is helping the homeless, or feeding people who don’t have money or help widow or single parent family we have to begin serving again. When we serve, God looks at that and give us a reward. We are God disciples begin ready to serve his people in this season.
Are you still on the journey we with me or you stray off the road? If so let’s continue. I not going to hold you long I promise. This brings me to my next point, after you get the understanding on knowing your purpose of why God chose you. Now we can look at what promise God made with you in order to be chosen.
I know that everyone that is here in this auditorium/ chapel has received a promise from God. I know I have and still waiting on it to manifest. Let’s look back a Peter. It seems kind of funny how the person who is writing this letter to the churches in Asia Minor went through the same process as him. As we look at Apostle Peter life we can really see when Peter was on the boat trying to fish. When Jesus came to him and says “come and follow him”. We can tell that this part of the scripture is the purpose of understanding why God chose us. If we look at the second part of that scripture we can see that Jesus gave Peter a promise if he follows him.
When we begin to follow God we always receive a promise along with a purpose. God will not give you the purpose without giving you a divine promise in order to understand why he chose you. Peter promise was that Jesus would, Mt 4:19b says “I will make you fishers of men”. Has God made you a promise like this within your ministry or organization? Have you seen your promise come to past or to fuchsine? Are you waiting to see your promise come to past?
Some promise make take time, because want us to go through a particular process in order to get the understanding. Even though you and I are chosen people, the promise of God can be a process of shaping you. It is nothing like going through the process. Yes it might hurt and yes it might be some pain, but we have to understand how to sacrifice.
During your process you will go through rejection. See God process is not our process. See we want God process to be a fly through process. The reason why I say we make go through rejection is because when you begin to follow Christ people we begin to reject you, talk about and hurt you, even my spit on you. God want to see if you can handle being his chosen people. Going through God process will give such a humility spirit. Having a promise from God will cause people to be envy, jealous of you. Don’t think it strange when people who you are really close with begin to turn up there noise at you, on how God is favoring you in this season. Your promise is so important to the kingdom of God; the enemy would do all he can to get you off focus and distracted.
What did Jesus say to Peter, “Satan desirous to sheaf you as wheat”? Satan is trying to take away every promise that God has made to you. Satan doesn’t want you rise up in this season. He will try everything to get you off the straight and narrow path. Stand on your wall and don’t let him come and steal your promise. I have been in warfare this whole year about during this conference. If it wasn’t the finance, it was people who you trust. The devil was fighting me about having this conference. At first I had speaker who would speak then I had a man of God tell me to cancel and wait until next year, and family telling me it will be a failure. Sometimes you have to laugh right in the devil face and let him know that you stand on God words and promise for your life.
You have to stand your ground in this season regardless who it is telling you different what God told you. I’m reminded of the story in the bible about the young prophet and the old prophet. See both of them are man of God, but the problem I have with that is when God gave the young prophet divine instruction about not to eat or stop within the city. Here comes an old man prophet being a man of God to stand and tell him that God told him it was ok for him to stop to eat. A red flag should have risen up in the young prophet mind. In this season we as a chosen generation have to stand on God word. We don’t have to look for three conformations in order to heed to God instruction. Whenever God say or tell you to do something move quickly. I’m preaching to my own self Ouch. We as a people of God get so caught up receive more than conformation we miss the movement of God in our lives. God promise to you is so important that you have to protect it as all cost. You have to shield and protect your baby. God is birthing in this season every promise. Watch God in how he unfolds his mystery regarding your promise he made to you come to past in this season.
Now that we understand the purpose and the promise of why God chose us to be a chosen generation, we now can look at the problem we face on this journey. We as a chosen people have a lot problem in our own lives that we are too afraid to share. If we really share our problem we would not think of ourselves more highly than we ought too. We forget that before God chose us we were all caught up in sin. It is strange how we get to a point in our Christian walk and we think that we arrive to this great platform of ministry that we lose the essence of being humble. Apostle Peter had problem when God call him, don’t think that you are the only one with problem. God call and chose you with your problem. You think that if we were so perfect that God would have chose Peter to be his Ambassador for his Kingdom.
If you look at Peter, Peter was a curser, a liar, a fighter, self-centered and outspoken person. Just like some of us in this chapel. We are all guilt of this, we lye, curse, cheat, steal, and lust. You think that we have to be perfect to be chosen by God. God chose you through your imperfectness. God chose you in your imperfectness to bring you to a place of humility and meekness to show that he can use you to minister to the one who are just like you.
We wrestle with the facts or question in our head of why would he chose me to do his work. We have to get the understanding that we are chosen for his glory. 1peter 2:1 says “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. If we are going to be a chosen generation we have to be able to come before God and remove some stuff off our live so that we can free.
Understand this Peter was chosen with all of his mess as well as you. God knew that in the mist of choosing you that you came with junk within you. Knowing that you needed to be clean out. Jermi.1:5 before I formed you in the womb I knew [a]
you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” 1 peter 2 says “we are his chosen people being his living stone. Which mean that we are his people being living vessels for his usage. We have to be willing to be a vessel for God. We are to carry the glory and light of God. How can we really be vessel if we are to busy being polluted by every wind of doctrine and people who we know that isn’t right for us? The bible says “How can I put new wine in an old wine skin.” We have to get rid of all our flaws and mask that we place on our face. We need to be a generation that will tell the truth about who really are and stop trying to hide. We will be a generation that would not hide behind our title and position. Even if we have a position or a title we need to be a generation that will keep each other accountable.
We have to be the living example of Christ to show forth our scars of what we been through in this journey. Show the scars that you face, you don’t know that the scars you have can be a testimony for someone else. We are to walk this journey as living testimony walking with scars. We have to be willing to give ourselves away to God totally to him, not half of us.
Just like a diamond in a rough, it start out being the ugliest thing you every seen and you really think it is a rock. When it goes through the refiner fire it comes out the most precious stone you ever could see. In the refiner fire God begin to shape and molding and burn some stuff of you that don’t belongs in you. The two key component in understanding the problem we face as a chosen generation is being deliver and being a prayer warrior. We have to get back to the root of prayer. Prayer changes a lot of thing in your life. Whenever you feel the urchin to pray you need to get up and begin to pray for the body. We have to be a generation that will seek the Lord face. We miss the importance of prayer, prayer brings strength, restoration, power from God, it breaks yokes, and it destroys the enemy tactics and scheme. We have to pray in this season and turn from all our evil ways and turn to God plans.
After you understand the purpose, promise and problem of knowing why God chose you, we can now look why it is so significance that you was predestine for this call. You can be predestine for a lot of thing but this specific call that is upon each every one of lives is so important that God has you to come to this conference to call you out of your confront zone, this call that is upon your life have to activated in this season. You have been sitting long enough knowing that you were destining for more. God would have never predestine you for greatest if he didn’t place nothing inside of you. God made you in his own image, when he blew his breathe upon you and you became a living soul, he placed everything within you to move forward.
Tonight you are here to be activate within your divine position and purpose. It is not by chance that you are here tonight to hear this message. Jermi. 29:11 say “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Being predestine by God mean that he has plan for you that he already fix and prepare for you. Roman 8: 30 says “And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Apostle Peter was destining to be fisher of men that was his divine promise.
When you are predestine for something God always bring in a name change. Look at Peter, Peter name which was Simon which mean stone but when he begin to follow God there was a switch in his name. This was Cephas which mean “Rock”. Jesus gave a command to Peter saying upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail. You are the rock of God the church is within you. So anytime the enemy come up against you remember that he can not prevail against you, being a rock of God, means that you are a solid foundation ready to be planted on good soil. Don’t stumble in this season, walk and stand bold before enemy.
Now that we get the importance of knowing the purpose, promise, problem and predestine we can to your divine destiny. For 1peter 2:9 says “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
You are a Chosen Generation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
